The journey to wellness often begins in crisis. Our Discovery Unit inpatient hospital program stabilizes patients during psychiatric crises. After stabilization, we equip adolescents and their families with coping skills needed to navigate life’s unique challenges. Treatment includes group therapy, therapeutic recreation, occupational therapy, art therapy, medication management, safety planning, crisis observation, relapse prevention, emotion regulation, problem-solving, and discharge planning.
Customized Treatment Planning
Our team works with each patient to provide an individualized treatment plan. The main focus is to relieve symptoms of psychiatric crisis and help the patient regain control of his or her life.
Highlands Behavioral Health System’s Acute Stabilization clinical team includes:
- 24-hour psychiatric nursing care
- Mental health specialists
- Case managers
- Social workers
- Art, occupational and recreational therapists
As soon as the patient is admitted, we begin planning for a successful return to the community and daily life. These plans may include continuing care with a psychiatrist, therapist and or other community resources.
